Dr. Ming Wang, President and Founder of the 917 Society and world renowned eye surgeon will be the November 15th guest speaker for a dinner hosted by the Cumberland County Republican Party and the Women’s Club. Online tickets available here or RSVP to ccrwctn@gmail.com by November 8!

The 917 Society’s mission, focused on 8th graders, is to educate the next generation on the great values and norms given to them by the U.S. Constitution. To that end, students from Crossville will be dinner guests of the club.

You will not want to miss hearing about Dr. Wang’s incredible journey to freedom in the United States! As a teenager he fought valiantly to escape China’s Cultural Revolution, during which millions of innocent youth were deported to remote areas to face a life sentence of hard labor and poverty. He came to America with only $50, but through diligent, hard work he earned two doctorate degrees, one in laser physics and one in medicine, graduating with the highest honors from Harvard Medical School and MIT. The film “Sight” co-staring Greg Kinnear, is based on his autobiography From Darkness to Sight.

Dr. Wang founded Nashville based Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration to help indigent patients undergo advanced sight restoration surgeries free-of-charge. Dr. Wang is also the co-founder of the non-profit Common Ground Network.
