TN GOP News

In Tennessee, we have no reason to hang our heads down over the 2022 election. While the anticipated Red Wave didn’t have widespread gains across the country, we all did our part in Tennessee!

TN GOP Chairman Scott Golden published “Our Accomplishments Together” for the State Executive Committee in December. He shared that the 2022 election cycle would see Republican school board members elected for the first time in history. With redistricting at the federal, state and local level, the new lines offered a chance to make Tennessee even more red and secure Republican leadership for years to come. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so check out the graphs depicting the progress made in Tennessee in 2022!

Tennessee successfully replaced one of the remaining US Representatives with a Republican in District 5, resulting in a 8-1 Republican delegation in DC. In the General Assembly, all Republican state senators were reelected for a 27-6 majority while the State House gained two seats for an historic 75-24 Republican super majority.
A record of 77 of Tennessee’s 95 counties were eligible to vote for a local Republican for the first time in history. In addition, 28 of 32 judicial districts decided to run partisan elections for the first time, marking another record. The TN GOP added sixteen Republican county mayors, nine sheriffs, nine district attorneys, seven public defenders, countless county officials and judges, and 151 new school board members. Many counties achieved the accomplishment of having all Republican elected officials. The counties of Wilson, Smith, Robertson, Cheatham, Hardin, Lauderdale and Hickman held partisan elections for the first time.
