Republicans Hard at Work
US Congress
After getting everyone sworn in, Congress has been busy since January 3rd. In case you’re interested in what they’ve been doing, check out the House votes here and Senate votes here. Each of President Trump’s cabinet and other appointments have been approved and work is getting done! To keep up with everything, don’t forget to sign up for newsletters from your Representative and Senators. They all have sign up options on their web pages.
Tennessee General Assembly
The One Hundred Fourteenth General Assembly has been at work since January 14, 2025 and even squeezed in Governor Lee’s special session to act on priority items. To track any bills going through the General Assembly, check out www.capitol.tn.gov. You can track bills of particular interest by setting up a list using the ‘My Bills’ tab on the website.
Local Republican Party Officer Elections
In 2025, all local Republican parties are required to conduct officer elections. Called ‘reorganizations’, these meetings must be announced well in advance to allow full participation. Reorganizations must be conducted before April 15th. While the reorganization meetings are open to all interested individuals, those wishing to vote for the officers must be bona fide Republicans, having voted in three of four most recent statewide Republican primaries. The four most recent primaries were held August 6,2020 (US Senate primary), August 4, 2022 (Gubernatorial primary), March 5, 2024 (Presidential primary) and August 1, 2024 (US Senate primary). If you have moved to your county within the past five years, whether from another county in Tennessee or another state, you must provide your Republican primary voting record to officials in order to participate. Those that are too young to have voted in the required number of primaries may be granted a waiver.
If you want to be involved in your county election of officers, you can pre-register using the link below. Pre-registration allows verification of your voting record in advance and should make checking in more efficient at the upcoming meeting. Scheduled reorganizations may be found here
Five county parties in the region are conducting their reorganization meetings in March and one is conducting theirs in April. Don’t be a benchwarmer! Get out there and participate!
