October 18th – A great day for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness

As a parent, I learned years ago that if my child was aggravated or frustrated, he could certainly express his emotions, but if he was simply craving attention or attempting to manipulate circumstances to get his way by pitching a tantrum, I ignored him.  I could maintain an awareness of his feelings without appeasing him.   Given enough time, the tantrum would stop and the child would find something else to do.

Recently, I was asked if I planned to counter the ‘No Kings’ protest this upcoming Saturday.   I said I would not.  ‘But we need a presence out there!’, they replied.   I disagree.  By all accounts, the ‘No Kings’ notion is designed solely to express aggravation and frustration with President Donald Trump.

I lived with aggravation and frustration for the past 4 years, so I can relate.  The first amendment guarantees, within reason, an individual’s right to expression.  Over the years, much blood has been shed to assure us, as citizens of the greatest nation in the world, of that right and more.

However, I find this particular ‘No Kings’ notion to be a pointless act to draw attention to the protestors’ aggravation and frustration.  There is no specific action being requested in the protest – it’s just a means of expression.

The title is truly nonsensical since our nation’s founders fought the last battle to live free of monarchy centuries ago.  Comparing a monarchy to a duly elected president is ludicrous.  Our president is pursuing exactly the platform he presented to the voters.  The recourse to counter a president’s activities with which you disagree is to communicate directly with the office and those who represent you in federal offices.  If that fails, find someone that you can support and work to get them elected in the next election cycle.

If you simply don’t like him, no matter what he does, you must find your way to cope.  You are free to rant and rave about how much you don’t like him. The first amendment protects you, but my response? Ignore the rantings.  I have much better things to do on a beautiful fall day than pay heed to disgruntled people who offer no solutions.

Our great nation’s border now means something and illegal crossings have been effectively halted.  Resources are being deployed to cities being crumbled by non-stop violence against innocent citizens.  Ridiculous policies that have catered too long to an agenda of confusion with respect to human sex are being abandoned. Common-sense tax policies have been introduced, such as ‘no tax on tips’ and ‘no tax on social security’.  Waste and fraud are being whittled out of taxpayer funded programs. This week, we have seen innocent hostages released from cruel and inhumane treatment at the hand of terroristic regimes in Israel.

The country and the world are in a better place with Donald Trump as President.   October 18th will be a beautiful day to live free in our nation that protects life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Senator Paul Bailey’s Rising Leaders Fellowship Program

Senator Bailey posted a new initiative on October 14th (below). This new program is very exciting for those that wish to serve in their community in a positive way!

Today should have been Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday. In honor of Charlie’s bright light gone far too soon, I’m launching 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲’𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 – 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 to help young Tennesseans learn how to enact change and find their own path to lead.

It’s up to us to continue Charlie’s legacy by supporting the next generation of leaders as they rise. After all, Charlie showed us that our young people have too much to offer to be watching from the sidelines.

Eligibility: Residents of Senate District 15 up to age 25 – open to high school juniors & seniors, college students, trade school students, or young people pursuing alternate leadership paths.

Details coming soon. If you’re a young person – or know one who may be interested – please email paulbaileyfellowship@gmail.com to receive the application information.
