December SEC Meeting

In this edition:

Merry Christmas to ALL!

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:11

May each and every one have a joyful celebration of Jesus Christ with family, friends and/or neighbors.

December TN GOP SEC Meeting – What happened?

The TN GOP held the last quarterly meeting of the year this past Saturday. The main item on the agenda was consideration of several proposed bylaws amendments. Before you hit the snooze button, check out the brief summary posted here.

2026 Republican candidates should be aware of the long standing requirements specified in TN GOP Bylaws. The primary requirements to run as a Republican are:

  1. You must have voted in three of four most recent statewide Republican primary elections
  2. You must have been active in the Republican party at the local, state or national level.

Full details of requirements for Republican Candidates are available at TNGOP.org. Under the ‘About’ menu, look for TNGOP Bylaws and read Article IX.

Candidates who don’t meet those requirements are removed from the ballot through a challenge. By a narrow margin, the SEC voted to revise the challenge process. Going forward, the TN GOP will initiate a challenge through a review and verification of a candidate’s voting history. TN GOP will notify candidates whose voting history falls short of the requirements and the candidate will be removed from the ballot. Candidates may appeal and request a waiver to be returned to the ballot. Waivers will be determined by a committee made up of State Executive Committee members and the State Chairman.
