Our Lives, Our Fortunes, and Our Sacred Honor
I hope everyone is planning to participate in at least one celebration of our great nation’s Independence Day. But beyond the hot dogs, picnics, and fireworks, I hope all reading this newsletter take a moment to appreciate the tremendous sacrifices made by the original Patriots.
A powerful way to revisit that history is through one of the most famous broadcasts by the late Rush Limbaugh, one of the most influential political commentators of our time who remains dearly missed. Each year, he shared a deeply moving speech written by his father that paid tribute to the original signers of the Declaration of Independence.
On this eve of celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday, it is well worth revisiting that history—and remembering the heavy personal consequences faced by those brave patriots who risked everything to set our nation on its course to freedom.
My Father’s Speech – by Rush Limbaugh, Jr.
The freedom we enjoy today exists because the original signers were willing to sacrifice everything. Our privilege to vote is a precious legacy of their courage, yet it is one we too often take for granted.
What’s at Stake Now – GET OUT THE VOTE!
Do not sit out the August 2026 election! On average, fewer than 15% of eligible voters participated in the May primary. If you are not content to let others speak for you in our local government, ensure your voice is heard. Attend upcoming campaign events to meet the candidates face-to-face, protect our community, and make a plan to vote.
Here’s what’s on that August ballot:
Local Leadership: From School Board to County Mayor, and Road Superintendent to County Sheriff. These local officials impact your life, your wallet, and your neighborhood most directly.
State Representative and Senate: The state body that is responsible for Tennessee’s state budget and all state legislation certainly should be those who share your values!
Tennessee Governor: The governor holds immense authority over state agencies and plays an impactful role in collaboration with the General Assembly.
U.S. Senate and House of Representatives: A critical line of defense for national recovery and restoring strong, common-sense leadership in Congress.
Obtain a sample ballot by contacting your local election office.
Your community, your state, your vote. See you at the polls!
